Canned seafood. Canned fish is now in fashion: sardines, cod, tuna, octopus, squid are tasted canned in olive oil or natural or garnished with tomatoes, lemons, peppers, garlic, piri piri... or cooked with typical Portuguese recipes: em caldeirada, lagareiro, a portuguesa...
Meat dishes. Portugal produces excellent veal, pork and goat meat, and the most famous Portuguese speciality is the "cozido à portuguesa", a mixture of various meats, vegetables and delicatessen.
Olive oil. Portuguese olive oil, of high quality, often awarded as one of the best olive oils in the world, is present in all Portuguese cuisine.
Pastry shops. Don't miss the "pasteis de nata", a delicious little flan in a puff pastry, sprinkled with cinnamon. It always goes perfectly with espresso coffee, which the Portuguese are fond of.
