It was the first Portuguese explorers who established a trading post in Macao and introduced tea (Chá) to all of Europe as early as 1556. In the 18th century, the only tea plantation in Europe was born in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean, on the Portuguese islands of the Azores. This shows how closely tea and Portugal are linked.
