"A Alfacinha dos Caracóis", literally "snail leaf" is a plate in fine enamelled stoneware, entirely handmade. It perpetuates the tradition of reproducing plant elements through the technique of direct molding.
The plate is varnish coated and handpainted with two shades of green and decorated with a snail complemented with two toothpicks from the Portuguese brand Campeões. This lettuce leaf has been specially designed to serve olives.
This piece comes with a tale named "A Alfacinha dos Caracóis", translated into Portuguese, English and French. It relates the origin of the word "Alfacinhas" and tells the story of a young woman selling curly lettuce who saved the city of Lisbon from being besieged.
