Giant white ceramic swallow shaped in the tradition of Caldas da Rainha and its illustrious inventor: Bordallo Pinheiro.

This swallow is hollowed out to reduce its weight and has two holes so that it can be easily fixed to the wall or placed flat on a piece of furniture.

The swallow (Andorinha) is today an icon of national folklore and an object present in all Portuguese homes. It is used both outdoors on a façade and indoors on a wall. This swallow comes from a small workshop located between Caldas da Rainha and Obidos in the centre-west of Portugal, in the province of Estremadura. The moulds used there have been handed down from generation to generation and the owner of the workshop now uses his grandfather's moulds. All parts are made entirely by hand.
